Language Arts: Today Mrs. Hay-Roe came in and did a presentation for the kids.

HW: Research papers were due 6/1 and will not be accepted after 6/7. Research papers must be turned in to receive a grade for the class 3rd trimester.

Math 8: Today we did a quick review/warm-up of Box-and-Whisker Plots.  We began our last activity/project of the year on Data Analysis.  Students are to collect data through surveying their peers, make 3 different graphs to analyze the data (histogram, stem-and-leaf, and box-and-whisker), and finally to complete a short response reflecting on the data collected.  Students are allowed to work in groups of 2-3.  During the week, students should also be finishing up any late/missing work from the current unit (Lessons 12, 14, 15, 16, & 18)

HW:  Complete data collection/survey (30 students)

Algebra: Today we had an extra day to study for quiz and ask questions on Chapters 9.1-9.6 in their text book (big red book)

HW:  Finish practice quiz (show work!), study Chapters in textbook and/or Review packet (blue)

Social Studies: Today we discussed chapters 24-27.

HW: read chapters 28-29 by Wednesday.  Field trip tomorrow!

Science: Today we were finished with our testing, so we put our results into a data table and started to analyze it.

HW: None. Remember that we are on a field trip tomorrow! Dress for rain. String backpacks only.

Language Arts: Today we spent time making final revisions and editing in order to submit our final draft of the research paper.

HW: The research paper was due today but will be accepted through next week, as students cannot receive a passing grade for the class without this paper. It will not be accepted after June 7th.

Math 8: Today we looked at Box and Whisker Plots.

HW: Lesson 18 (handout)

Algebra: Today we worked on Benchmark 5 review.

HW: Finish Benchmark 5 review quiz. Study for your quiz on Monday.

Social Studies: Today we had time in class to finish yesterday's quiz.  The remainder of class time was given to reading chapters 26-27.

HW: Read chapters 26-27.

Science: Today we (for the most part) collected data. Data collection should be done today.

HW: None...have a great weekend!

Language Arts: Today we had time to complete a "Works Cited" list and reviewed expectations for the final draft of the research paper.

HW: Final draft of the Research Paper is due on Friday, 6/1.

Math 8: Today we had time in class to complete Lesson 15T/15 and begin looking at Lesson 16, Stem-and-Leaf Plots.

Algebra: Today we had time in class to work on completing 9.5A (factoring trinomials) in class.  After completed, students were to pick up Pizzazz worksheet (yellow and double sided) focusing on multiplying and factoring polynomials (pg 84) and factoring polynomials (pg 90)

Social Studies: Today we talked about Atticus' closing statement in chapter 20.

HW: Quiz tomorrow over chapters 12-20.  Also, read chapters 22-23.

Language Arts: Today we spent time typing up students' second draft if their research paper.

HW: Students who have not completed a first draft or a conference review of their paper should do this on their own time. (Their first drafts should have been done over a week ago!)

Math 8: Today we continued working with histograms, explored Lesson 15 "Analyzing Histograms" as a class (15T)

HW: Finish Lesson 15T/15

Algebra: Today we answered individual question from Review Packet over the weekend and began Lesson 9.5, "Factoring Trinomials"

HW: Complete 9.5 Study Guide and Benchmark Review packet if not finished

Social Studies: Today we discussed chapters 17-19.  We talked about the start of the trial against Tom Robinson.

HW: Read chapters 20-22.

Science: Today we started to build our tops in class.

Language Arts:Today we reviewed our first House on Mango Street quiz and continued working on our reading and notes.

HW: Reading Project 1 is due and will not be accepted after Thursday, 5/24.

Math 8:Today we reviewed answers to "Climbing the Ladder" activity and began Lesson 12, "Five-Number Summaries of Data".  Students were given a copy of the Lesson to take home with them so they can refer to book lesson as we only have enough textbooks (Data Analysis) for an "in-class" set at this time

HW: Lesson 12T/12

Algebra:Today we worked on "Interdisciplinary Application", combining the Pythagorean theorem and multiplying polynomials to solve real world examples.  Also began "Investigating Algebra Activity" as a lead in to Lesson 9.4 (Zero-product Property)

HW: Finish Interdisciplinary Application (#1-8) AND Investigating Algebra Activity (#2-9)


Social Studies:Today we took TKAM quiz #2 over chapters 6-11.

HW: Should be read through chapter 15 tonight.

Science: Today we thought about our iterations, sketched them, and wrote a preliminary procedure.

HW: None - all work must be done in class.
