Language Arts: Today we had our first opportunity to dive into a grade-level text! We are reading a short story, "The Landlady" and are analyzing its use of foreshadow and imagery.
HW: None
Math 8: Today we took our first assessment of the year on "Translating Linear Functions". This was there first opportunity to show proficiency for this target, but not their last. We also collected the Check Up worksheet and Vocabulary Crossword HW that was assigned over the weekend.
HW: None
Algebra: Today we handed out new schedules to all students during first period. Students were asked to prepare their spiral notebooks for collection as we are having a unit assessment on integer operations (covering chapters 1 & 2 in MDL). We also collected HW from the unit, which includes workbook practice problems for lessons 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, and 2.5). Students were also given a mixed review worksheet from Chapter 2 to work as practice.
HW: Study for Integer Operation assessment
Social Studies: Today we reviewed why people came to the New England colonies. Also, we reviewed colonial regions. We ended class with a reading from a young man and his experience in New England.
HW: Study/review for the 50 states test TOMORROW.
Science: Today we reviewed the processes of finding mass and volume, and determined the relationship between them.
HW: Finish your analysis if not done in class. Here is the assignment. This should take no more than 15 minutes.
