Language Arts: Today we finished our short story, "The Landlady". Students had time to begin working on their Reading Response 1. They are being asked to analyze literary devices in this response and will be scored for proficiency in "Organization" in this assignment.
HW: Reading Response 1 is due this Friday, 9/30.
Math 8: Today we worked on our graph making skills as we continued Investigation #2. Started problem 2.2 "Crossing the Line" in class. Here we are introduced to y-intercepts when using tables, graph, and equations.
HW: Finish pg 26, problem 2.2 (A-D)
Algebra: Today we began on Warm Up #004. I asked the students to hold onto their spirals until Friday, as they will need their notes for homework this week. In class we took noes on key vocabulary and concepts (properties of equalities for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) in Chapter 3 and worked through examples.
HW:Workbook lesson 3.1, pg 30 (odds) and pg 31 (all)
Social Studies: Today we discussed last night's homework on the Middle Colonies. We then compared the New England Colonies and Middle Colonies in why people came to the New World.
HW: None
Science: Today we took a Metric Conversion Assessment. We then learned how to write summary paragraphs. We summarized yesterday's density demonstrations.
HW: Finish summary. This should take no more than 15 minutes.
